In Memory of Mom

Well known on the cb radio as Lucky Lady

Dorothy L. Halfhill well known as Lucky Lady is a woman that will never be forgotten. At the age of 18 she met David W. Halfhill well known as Pop-A-Top on the cb radio. You could have guessed that they ended up getting married and of course had 6 kids(4 daughters and 2 sons).

Dorothys' passion was in baking. She always enjoyed baking anytime of the year to share her joy with others. Watch out for christmas time though two miles from her house you could smell the aroma of cookies, candies, and fudge. I know she would bake from Thanksgiving Day up until Christmas Day. She always thought that giving a gift of cooking came from the heart and was always better than anything bought.

We talk to each other- on our Radio and I am proud - to hear her call, How about it Ole Dad - Are you in There, She's my best Friend - of them all. Her handle is Lucky Lady, The best CBer - that can be found, That's my friend - Our Lucky Lady, The Best and Only One Around.

Her Daughters Eyes

I was asked to think of one special memory to share with everybody today. So as memories flooded my mind - I thought there is no way.

It isn't because a memory is hard to find - the problem is which  one should I share.

Should  it be the earliest one I can remember or how much she would care about anything going on in any of our day to day living.

She was there for out first steps - in matters of life or giving.

The memories of deer season or her having us to stir her fudge she would make.

The smell of cooking in the house when Christmas foods she would bake.

Sitting on the floor and cutting squares out of old clothes for the quilts she would sew.

Or the memory of her getting mad at dad when he would take us out in the snow.

She was there when we graduated from high school, she was there when we walked down the aisle.

in her own way she could and would make as laugh, scream, or smile.

During each of her grandchildrens birth she was by our side.

She would be the first to hold that baby with arms open wide.

So it is very hard to find which is a favorite, for each of us will have our own.

But through hard aches and through tears there is one thing she has always shown, Always be true to yourself and always take up for your own.

The memory of her I think is the best to share Is though everything in our lives she was always there.

We love you and you will be missed so much.
